The impossibly cool, Captain Capoeira! Don't be fooled by his serious name. This Captain doesn’t sail ships; he dances, tumbles and kicks in a spectacular display of Capoeira – a Brazilian martial art that’s part dance, part game, and all fun! Captain Capoeira, with his flashy pants and an ever-twirling rainbow-colored bandana, leads his crew with the energy of a thousand jumping beans. He makes you laugh until your belly hurts by teaching Capoeira moves with hilarious names like 'the spinning monkey' or 'the flying squirrel'! Those names might sound silly, but don’t underestimate them. The 'sleeping bunny' move has toppled many opponents with a smile. Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats.
