Deep in the heart of the Lone Star State, where the prairies roll on forever under the brilliant Texas sky, a peculiar sort of bird takes flight. Not a bird by birth, but in spirit. This bird is white, round, and goes by the name of "Volley". Yes, you guessed it, it's a volleyball! Now, in Texas, Volley isn't just any old ball. Nope, it's the star of a grand spectacle played out by a troupe of high-energy, cowboy boot-wearing, yeehaw-yelling kids with a burning passion for the game. These aren't your ordinary kids. They are the Texas Tumbleweeds, the most ferocious, tenacious, and hilarious volleyball team in all of Texas. Leading the Tumbleweeds is their captain, a clever girl named Sandy who could serve a volleyball with such force that it could outrun a galloping mustang. Her sidekick is a cat named Whiskers who wears a cowboy hat, and although he can't play volleyball himself, he does his part by keeping everyone's spirits soaring high with his wild antics. Their games are a sight to behold. With every powerful serve, surprising save, and spectacular spike, the Tumbleweeds stir up a dust storm of laughter and cheers. The volleyball soars, swoops, and dives, dancing in the sky like an excited hummingbird amidst the chuckles and cheers of the audience. In the heart of Texas, volleyball isn't just a game, it's an adventure. An adventure that the Texas Tumbleweeds, Sandy, and Whiskers the cowboy cat, embark on every day, under the bright blue Texas sky. And trust me, it's as hilarious and exciting as a barrel of monkeys riding a rodeo bull!

Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
If you've ever had the privilege of spending your summer at El Tesoro as a camper, a counselor, or contributing in any other role, your presence at our upcoming events will help us commemorate and honor the cherished history of our beloved camp. We're planning to share stories, photos, and precious memories spanning nine decades, and we'd be thrilled if you joined us. The Camp Fire Camp El Tesoro, established in 1934, has been a welcoming haven for generations of campers, with its iconic swinging bridge being a memorable landmark for many. El Tesoro, which translates to "The Treasure" in Spanish, is a 223-acre sanctuary nestled between Fall Creek and the Brazos River in Granbury, Texas. Our camp offers a breathtaking panorama of the serene river and the vast open spaces of the blackland prairie. Our natural terrain and indigenous landscape offer our visitors a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. This idyllic oasis currently hosts co-ed overnight campers, day campers, grief campers, teachers, students keen on learning about nature, and groups seeking to foster connection and indulge in outdoor adventures. In 2010, Camp Fire First Texas launched a Capital Campaign aimed at renovating and upgrading the facilities at Camp El Tesoro. This initiative is essential to ensure that the enchanting spirit of the camp continues to be enjoyed by future generations. We're committed to preserving and enhancing the magic of Camp El Tesoro, enriching the lives of campers for many years to come.
