Our story takes place in the dreamy, diversified state of MA, where vibrant autumns sprinkled their color magic, and jolly winters sprinkled their snow frosting. With its hilly landscapes, salty sea air, and tantalizing towns, MA was as tantalizing as a fresh-baked batch of chocolate chip cookies. In this extraordinary place, there was a peculiar band of culinary crusaders, known as the Massachusetts’ Mini-Masterchefs. These culinary kids had a knack for kneading, a talent for toasting, and the audacity for adding just the right amount of sprinkles. Their leader was a jolly giant of a lad named Bubbling Billy Biscuit (or Triple B, as he was often called). Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
The 4-H mission, pledge, motto, and slogan provide the foundation for maintaining the deep-rooted traditions of Camp Middlesex. The four H’s (Head, Heart, Hands, and Health) are taught to enrich and expand the learning experience. The four areas (Club/Camp, Community, Country, and World) serve as reminders of the many facets of our interaction with our surroundings. The camp’s staff and volunteers work hard to ensure a safe and positive atmosphere for all campers. At Camp Middlesex, campers are encouraged to learn and grow through positive reinforcement and the development of leadership skills. The camp provides a fun and safe environment for all campers to explore and develop leadership skills. Campers are encouraged to think independently and take responsibility for their own actions. Through the camp activities, campers learn to become more independent and develop a sense of community and responsibility. Through their experiences at camp, campers learn to be confident in their decisions and become self-reliant.
