About West Medford Community Center & Daycare

Here at the West Medford Community Center, we believe that by connecting the diverse people of West Medford and the wider Mystic River Valley region through social, educational, cultural, health and recreational activities, we can create a powerful sense of community. For over sixty years, we have provided opportunities for individuals and families to gather, learn from each other, grow and celebrate together. We are here to make sure that everyone in our community feels included and celebrated.

Programs

The classes, camps and experiences this business offers.

Afterschool Youth Club
Our mission is to provide youth with opportunities to complete homework, get tutoring assistance, build social skills, utilize computer access, and to learn from our adult and youth leaders, all to make them productive, educated, socially apt, aware and prepared for the future to come. Our primary goal is to have mentors, youth leaders and the youth come together to produce a safe, fun and healthy experience.

Boys and Girls Summer Basketball
We know that team sport is key to building a sense of self worth in the growing child. We have also found that, the culture in our communities supports boys sports at a much higher level than girls. We also find that for this specific age range (basically, Middle School aged kids) there are relatively few options for kids, regardless of gender. We have also found that no one program meets the needs of the broad range of development and skill level present in this age range. This program was begun specifically to address that gap by providing different tiers of involvement, depending on each girl’s skill and interest

TAEKWON-DO
When we ask for input as to new programs folks would like to see here at the Community Center over the years, self defense comes up pretty consistently. So, we are more than pleased to have contracted with master Luis McDougal, who will be offering Taekwon-Do for youth and adults (11 years old and up.)
