About Essex Youth Theatre

Essex Youth Theater offers a unique opportunity for children to express themselves through the performing arts. Its specially developed scripts ensure that students of all levels get equal roles in every production. The class sizes are kept small, allowing each child to receive one-on-one attention from the instructors. At the end of each semester, the students put together a full-scale musical production featuring their own work. The program is designed to be fun and supportive, helping children to build confidence and self-esteem. Throughout the courses, students take part in a range of activities, from acting exercises to improvisation games, all of which help them to be creative and to hone their dramatic skills. Essex Youth Theater is the perfect place for children to explore their love of the performing arts. With dedicated instructors, smaller class sizes, and a supportive atmosphere, it provides an ideal environment for young people to discover their talents and shine.

Non-Musical Comedy, ages 6-13

You’ll be too cool for school in this smash comedy that pokes gentle fun at school life. Join us on a typical school day, causing lighthearted mischief along the way! Lots of hilarious and fun roles, and kids get more than one! Learn the art of making noises, weaseling out of trouble, even getting out of doing homework. Then discover the most fun ways to be a scamp on every kind of field trip! School has never been so much fun! This non-musical comedy gives each student their own star-turn in the spotlight. We also do super-fun theater games that nurture creativity in a lively, positive atmosphere.

ADVENTURES IN SLEEP-AWAY CAMP Ages 6-13

A play about teamwork and friendship. Sleep-away camp is an exciting new adventure for a group of pals. When they discover that some of the kids there love to play practical jokes they join in and have the time of their lives. But as they play more non-stop pranks, each group tries to get the upper hand. Then when they get into a jam, they find they must band together, using their tricky skills and cooperation, to get out of trouble. Too much fun!
